OMAHA (May 11, 2009) – Hal Daub, former mayor and current candidate for mayor, will cast his ballot for the City of Omaha’s municipal election at the Regency Lake and Tennis Club (606 Regency Parkway) at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Later in the evening Daub will hold a victory celebration at the Regency Lodge, located at 909 South 107th Avenue (just north of 108th & Pacific Street). Volunteers, supporters and friends will be able to watch the returns and celebrate the results when Hal Daub is elected to serve as Omaha’s next mayor. The doors to the room hosting the event will open at 6:30 PM. First results of the votes are expected to be released by the Douglas County Election Commissioner shortly after 8:00 PM when the polls close.

My opponent’s statements clearly indicate he favors amnesty for those who have entered the United States illegally. I oppose the practice of profiling by law enforcement or any other public safety agency and will not tolerate it as Mayor. No one in City government is going to go out knocking on doors looking for undocumented immigrants. That is not our job. But it is the City’s obligation to work with federal authorities and comply with federal immigration laws.
